When Juan Miguez Montero decided in 1980 to produce and market his own wine after a lifetime in the sector, the Gran Leiriña brand was born, taking its name from a small vineyard in Carballeda de Avia. Years later, he proceeded to produce wines with the Rias Baixas designation of origin to accompany the already successful Gran Leiriña Treixadura.

It is the result of the most rigorous selection of the best Treixadura bunches from the TRAVESELAS estate in Esposende. Combined with grapes from Leiro and Arnoia, it gives the wine different nuances due to the granitic, sandy, and slate soils. Crafted in a traditional way, resulting in a unique wine with over 30 years on the market.
Gran Leiriña Godello
Without forgetting our roots as winemakers in the Ribeiro region and drawing on the experience we’ve gained over 30 years, we’ve expanded beyond the boundaries of the Ribeiro D.O. Located in Carballal, Petín, Ourense, we produce this Godello 100% from the finest vineyards along the Sil River, resulting in a wine with an intense golden color and greenish hues.

The Albariño Juan Miguez
Coming from Castrelo de Miño, with an average vineyard age of between 14 and 28 years, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with temperature control at 18°C. The wine is characterized by spending 6 months on its fine lees, undergoing batonnage. This results in an intense yellow color with fruity aromas and a long, velvety, and well-structured finish. Tasting notes reveal high intensity with fruit aromas reminiscent of pear, citrus, and stone fruit, and on the palate, a melodious acidity over a full, sharp, fresh, and long body.
The Torrontes Juan Miguez
In 2018, with the aim of producing single-varietal Ribeiro wines, this 100% Torrontés was created using grapes from a single vineyard located in Castrelo de Miño. It reflects the characteristics imparted by Castrelo’s climate and soil, which bring out the unmistakable qualities of this variety, resulting in an intense, unctuous, and powerful yellow wine, with the distinctive notes of the lees evident throughout.
